Skywave Broadcasting Partners with FOX Sports Radio to Launch
All-New Sports Station – Sports Radio 98.7 FM – The FOX!
State College, Pa. – July 27, 2023 – Skywave Broadcasting announced today a
partnership with FOX Sports Radio to launch an all-new sports station – Sports
Radio 98.7 FM – The FOX! on WFXS-FM, effective immediately.
The newly-launched station now features a complete lineup of live sports entertainment
shows, including FOX Sports Radio’s “Two Pros and a Cup of Joe with LaVar Arrington,
Brady Quinn & Jonas Knox,” “The Dan Patrick Show,” “The Odd Couple with Chris
Broussard & Rob Parker,” “The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon” and “The Ben
Maller Show.” The station will also feature FOX Sports Radio around the clock on
weekends.
General Manager Sam Jordan stated that we are the sports authority in Central
Pennsylvania and will bring exciting sports play-by-play to the listeners throughout the
year. With NASCAR, NFL, NCAA Football and Basketball, High School Sports and
more; Sports Radio 98.7 – The FOX! feeds the need for sports.
The desire of the station is to provide an extensive coverage of “all things LIVE and
LOCAL” for the sports fan.
However, during the middle of the listeners day, the show “Let’s Talk! with Scott
Geesey and Jeff Byers”; will give the sports listener an opportunity to stay up with
current events and conversation that affects them in Central PA. Geesey makes his return
to the microphone once again, after spending numerous years at a former News Talk
station in State College. Byers is the long-time voice of Penn State Wrestling.
“The Steve Jones Show” will make its return to the radio in State College, after being on
with another long-time radio station, who recently changed formats. Jones has been the
long-time voice of Penn State Football and Basketball.
“The Goon & Ironhead Show”, will bring you entertainment LIVE from Quaker Steak
& Lube in State College, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Keith Conlin, affectionately known
as “Goon” is a former standout for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team and also
played in the National Football League. Jeff Byers, unceremoniously referred to as
“Ironhead” has been a fixture at countless sporting events in and around North America,
brings his knowledge of sports to the table and gives the “Goon” something to wrestle
with and discuss.
“The Keystone Sports Network Kickoff Show” will give you complete coverage of the
Pennsylvania sports scene, three days per week. Jim Galanti and crew delve into the
topics affecting the average sports fan and what they are thinking about certain subjects.
Whether it’s high school, college or professional; the coverage is unparalleled in the state.
Jed Donahue brings PA Sports NOW to the station and gives you a well-rounded look
at everything involving sports in Pennsylvania. From the Pirates, Phillies, Steelers,
Eagles, and all of the other sports teams in one location. Jed will also squeeze in some
Ohio State Buckeyes banter, just to fuel the fire with Penn State fans.
A.J. Roberts will provide listeners with Sports Radio 98.7 FM – The FOX! Sports
Updates throughout the schedule. In fact, listeners may seem to think that he doesn’t live
in a home; but, at the station. He lives and breathes sports and is looking forward to
interacting with sports teams all around the area.
The station has already started to plan on various promotions for the remainder of the
year, to keep listeners interacting with the station, and giving them reasons to win various
prizes. Jordan added that “we want to bring a music intensive approach to Sports radio”
and make it fun and enjoyable for the listener.
