Penn State is putting the finishing touches on its 2015 recruiting class and turning more of its attention to the 2016 cycle, which will officially begin following National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 4. After getting off to a scorching start last February, coach James Franklin could again surge when the recruiting calendar flips.

The Nittany Lions already have commitments from three top prospects in quarterback Jake Zembiec, defensive end Shane Simmons and running back Miles Sanders, but the Mid-Atlantic region is again loaded with top talent. Look no further than five-star New Jersey defensive tackle Rashan Gary, a player who could fill a very big need for the Nittany Lions. Franklin’s early pace suggests potential for a banner class in 2016.

Lions 247 recruiting guru Sean Fitz took a look ahead at Franklin’s 2016 recruiting efforts, including the prospect of taking two quarterbacks, with Dustin Hockensmith and Bob Flounders on the Keystone Sports Network this week.
