Penn State kicks off its season against Temple in the latest in an intrastate rivalry series that has been dominated by the Nittany Lions to the tune of 39 straight wins. The Owls enter the matchup at Lincoln Financial Field as seven-point underdogs but return plenty of experience, including 10 starters on a defense that ranked No. 4 nationally in scoring defense last season.
Penn State has its hands full but, of course, brings a dominant defense of its own and an offense that is set up for more success with junior quarterback Christian Hackenberg. Temple provides a solid test for an offensive line that struggled last season and retooled with the arrival of junior left tackle Paris Palmer, who is set to make his first career start.
Bob Flounders, Ross Tucker and Dustin Hockensmith took a look at the PSU-Temple matchup and offered their predictions in a segment for this week’s Keystone Kickoff Show.
