Penn State lost a beloved member of its community on Thursday in Fran Fisher, the longtime radio voice of the Nittany Lions, who died at age 91. Fans and former colleagues, as well as coaches, former players and Penn State administrators mourned the loss of Fisher while praising his many gifts as a broadcaster, as well as a friend.

Veteran beat reporter Rich Scarcella of the Reading Eagle has been covering the Nittany Lions dating back as far as 1981 and has fond memories of Fisher and former radio sidekick George Paterno. He shared those stories with Bob Flounders and Dustin Hockensmith in a segment for the Keystone Sports Network this week.
