Penn State entered the midway point of its 2015 training camp with a number of known issues to resolve in advance of the Sept. 5 opener at Temple. The left tackle position and the placekicker battle between Joey Julius and Tyler Davis remain unresolved, but several others look to be in good hands, particularly with the rise of true freshmen John Reid and Saquon Barkley.

Junior college transfer Paris Palmer remains a central figure to the Nittany Lions’ 2015 plans as he makes a massive transition to major college football. If he proves to be ill-prepared to protect quarterback Christian Hackenberg’s blind side, coach James Franklin might have little choice but to shuffle the deck and move Andrew Nelson from the right side to the left.

Former NFL offensive lineman Ross Tucker joined Bob Flounders and Dustin Hockensmith on the Keystone Sports Network this week to talk about Palmer and other Penn State football news of the day.
