Penn State football coach James Franklin is focused on positive going into the Indiana game. His team is 4-1 and working on a run of four straight wins, but red flags abound in the form of injuries and continued offensive struggles. Those problems reached a boiling point of sorts in last week’s narrow 20-14 win over Army, after which Franklin was questioned as if his team lost.
It’s hard to gauge just how injuries are going to impact the Indiana game, given Franklin’s policy to not talk about them. Saquon Barkley, Akeel Lynch, Marcus Allen and Andrew Nelson have all missed time and remain questionable, but Franklin said this week he’s “hopeful” both Allen and Barkley can return this week. Nelson has also taken reps at right tackle after missing the last three games.
Bob Flounders, Andrew P. Shay and Ross Tucker broke down the latest on Penn State injuries and plenty more in a segment for this week’s Keystone Kickoff Show.
